Category: MRT Kajang Line

The initial phase of the Klang Valley MRT Project saw the introduction of the expansive 46-kilometer MRT Kajang Line.

Embarking from Kwasa Damansara in the north-western outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, the line weaves its way through the heart of Malaysia’s capital city before culminating in Kajang, a burgeoning town to the southeast.

Covering an underground distance of 9.5 kilometers beneath Kuala Lumpur’s center, the rest of the route follows an elevated alignment. Comprising a total of 29 stations, with seven tucked underground, the MRT Kajang Line has undergone strategic adjustments, relocating Sungai Buloh MRT Station and Kampung Selamat MRT Station to the Putrajaya Line.

Kwasa Damansara MRT Station now operates as the pivotal terminal for both the Kajang and Putrajaya Lines, a deliberate move in the Klang Valley MRT Project’s blueprint. This shift aims to diminish reliance on and alleviate congestion at Sungai Buloh MRT Station, intricately linked with the Sungai Buloh KTM Station.

Functioning as the common terminus, Kwasa Damansara facilitates a seamless transition for passengers, enabling effortless transfers between the two lines.

Moreover, as of March 16, 2023, Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) Station assumes the role of an interchange station for both the Kajang and Putrajaya Lines, coinciding with the commencement of Phase Two for the Putrajaya Line.

The Kajang Line’s Phase One, spanning from Sungai Buloh to Semantan, initiated operations on December 16, 2016, with the remainder of the alignment becoming fully operational on July 17, 2017.

Each train set assigned to the line comprises four cars, providing a collective capacity for 1,200 passengers.
